The first teaser for the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards is out and the MAMA site is open!

The teaser expresses the union of the three main elements under this year's MAMA concept, "Icarus." The first element, "challenge," will be represented by the 2018 MAMA Premiere in Korea, an awards show which will invite new artists from across Asia to unfurl performances full of young spirit. The second element, "passion," will be represented by 2018 MAMA Fans' Choice in Japan, an awards show which will center around those artists chosen by fans. The final element, "dream," will be represented by 2018 MAMA in Hong Kong, which will be a grand finale featuring star-studded performances and awards. All of these elements--challenge, passion, dream--are represented by the wing, heart, and universe in the teaser's imagery.

2018 MAMA Week is set to begin on December 10 with the 2018 MAMA Premiere in Korea at Dongdaemun Design Plaza, followed by 2018 MAMA Fans' Choice in Japan on December 12 at the Saitama Super Arena, all ending on December 14 with 2018 MAMA in Hong Kong at the Asia World-Expo Arena.

Voting will begin on November 1, 2018 at 6:00 PM (KST) and will continue until 11:59 PM (KST) on December 9.

While the Mnet Asian Music Awards began in 1999 under the name "Mnet Music Video Daesang," the "MAMA" as we know it is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. In honor of the 10th anniversary, this year's MAMA concept will be a reinterpretation of the legend of Icarus, celebrating the passionate pursuit of an insurmountable challenge, based around what else, but a dream. It's all set to begin on December 10, are you ready?
